Wellness

Well·ness | \ ˈwel-nəs  \: The active pursuit of activities, choices and lifestyles that lead to a state of holistic health.

There are two important aspects to this definition. First, wellness is not a passive or static state but rather an “active pursuit” that is associated with intentions, choices and actions as we work toward an optimal state of health and wellbeing. Second, wellness is linked to holistic health—that is, it extends beyond physical health and incorporates many different dimensions that should work in harmony:

  • Physical: Nourishing a healthy body through mindful movement, exercise, nutrition, sleep, etc.
  • Mental: Engaging the world through learning, problem-solving, creativity, etc.
  • Emotional: Being aware of, accepting and expressing our feelings, and understanding the feelings of others.
  • Spiritual: Searching for meaning and higher purpose in human existence.
  • Social: Connecting and engaging with others and our communities in meaningful ways.

With wellness as one of our core values, we take it very seriously. It’s important to us that the guidance you receive comes from professional, vetted, subject matter experts. With that in mind, we put together a team of experts in their perspective areas committed to helping you achieve wellness physically, emotionally, and mentally.

Natalie Hayes: Natalie is a US Army Reserve Captain and NASM Certified Personal Trainer.

Natalie’s passion for fitness was born from her own physical and mental transformation. Natalie grew up influenced by the horrors of diet culture. Before she became a trainer, she went on every diet you can imagine- Special K, Weight Watchers, Low Carb. Of course, none of them worked and she was stuck in a terrible cycle of losing weight and gaining it back.

It wasn’t until she invested in her first fitness and nutrition coach, that her life truly changed. She finally learned what was right for her body, got in her best shape ever and from there, her fire for health and fitness was lit.

She competed in multiple bodybuilding shows and earned her NASM Personal Training Certification. She started helping friends and family with their fitness goals and positing helpful wellness tips on social media just for the fun of it.

Today she owns and operates her online fitness coaching company, Fit To Lead, full time.

The mission of Fit To Lead is to help veterans reach their fitness goals and stay fit to lead their own lives, through strength, community and wellness.

Natalie has served 10 years in the Army and has worked abroad in Indonesia, Germany, Slovakia, Poland, Italy, Belgium, Romania.. to name a few.
